Nowadays the society seem to have come to conclusion that it is ok to have anything you want when you want it. GOD didn’t make it that way. GOD knew waiting is very important. If He didn’t He wouldn’t have it so many times in the scripture to bring it to our mind.
Psalm 27:14
14Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.
He knows sometime it is not easy to wait, sometimes it takes strength to wait. Waiting is very important as far as GOD is concern. It is important in our physical life and spiritual life.
We are wise enough to know that somethings is better not to have, just when you want it. Sometime having something is not wise, maybe we are not ready for it. For example somethings are dangerous not only physically also emotionally. We have to be careful and be conscious of the fact that waiting is not only an idea it is a principle of GOD. How many times He reminds us to wait.
Sometime it is not easy to wait. Waiting has great advantages. It is good not to have everything when you want it. It is good to wait for somethings you want to have it. Somethings become richer and richer when you have to wait for it.
Isaiah 40:28-31
28Have you not known? Have you not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, faints not, neither is weary? There is no searching of his understanding.
29He gives power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increases strength.
30Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:
31But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
Follower of LORD Jesus learns the principle of waiting upon the LORD. One of the most important principle in the Word of GOD. It is not popular idea, it is not an easy principle but it is absolutely and essentaial principle if you want to be the person GOD wants you to be, if you want to do the things that He wants you to do. If you violate His caution to you to wait, you always pay a price.
Psalm 25:3
3No one who hopes in you
will ever be put to shame,
Psalm 37:9
9”those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth.”
GOD will give you your heart needs and desires if you wait for His timing. If you are wise, you wait till you hear from GOD. In your heart you know “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” Matthew 7:7. GOD is a good, wonderful GOD, generous giving to all of us more than what we deserve.
When we don’t get something we want it we complain. Will GOD keep something away from you if it is not good for you? Will it withhold it if now is the right time? No. Any time GOD withhold something from you is; out of His wisdom, love and for our benefit. He knows later is better, later we will be ready for it, later we will be quipped for it. We are not always equipped what we asked for.
Waiting upon Almighty GOD is a key to the way GOD operates. Sometime what we are asking is the right thing but we are not ready. He is waiting till we get ready. And sometime He is waiting for us to realise He is the source of what we are looking for in life, not someone else. Sometime He is teaching us that we do not need what we are asking for, it will be stumbling block in our life. He knows He has something better than that.
How should we wait?
*We should wait patiently.
Psalm 40:1-3
1I waited patiently for the Lord to help me,
and he turned to me and heard my cry.
2He lifted me out of the pit of despair,
out of the mud and the mire.
He set my feet on solid ground
and steadied me as I walked along.
3He has given me a new song to sing,
a hymn of praise to our God.
Many will see what he has done and be amazed.
They will put their trust in the Lord.
You will be blessed if you wait for GOD’s timing. He is wiser than we are. Therefore whatever I am asking Him about surely I know He knows the right time, if I get ahead of His timing I will not enjoy it rest of my life.
*We should wait quietly.
Psalm 62:1
1Truly my soul waits upon God: from him comes my salvation.
*We wait trusting Him. Waiting is actively trusting GOD. If I am fretting I am not trusting.
Proverbs 3:5-6
5Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
GOD in His wisdom and love always has a specific reason for us to wait for what we are asking about. We see what is in front of us, He sees beyond that and the affect it will have in our life.
*We wait expectantly.
Psalm 27:13
13I would have fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.
You wait till you get GOD’s permission to make serious decision because of consequences. The Spirit of GOD came into your life the moment you trusted Him. One of His primary reason is to come into your life is to seal you as a child of GOD and also to give you direction and guidance in sinful and vile world. What we have is GOD living in our spirit. It is foolish trying to live your life in this world without GOD and listening to Him. Prayer life is very important everyday praying to GOD and listening to Him.
*We wait courageously. GOD knows something takes courage to wait for.
Psalm 27:14
14Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.
He is waiting from a heart of love to give you what you are asking for, if it is His will. If it is not His will, you are not going to have it. He is waiting till the time is right. Somethings GOD does not allow because we make it god in our life.
Psalm 130:5
5I wait for the LORD, my soul does wait, and in his word do I hope.
One of the reasons we have to wait is because of sin in our life. When you deal with it He will give you His blessings. Sin is a barrier to blessing. If you want GOD blessings and be submissive to His will most likely you will get what you are asking for. GOD is in the process of teaching us to trust Him.
1 John 5:14-15
14This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. 15And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.
We have the promises of GOD. Obey GOD, listen to Him and watch Him work.
