God gives us opportunities to guide us, lead us. He makes us our lives very exciting and interesting with opportunities that challenges us, stretches us, and makes us excited about the opportunities.
Holy Spirit gives us direction, gives us spiritual eyes to see these things that other people do not see. Because we have the privilege of walking with Him, living with Him, observing Him, understanding Him, getting a glimpse of GOD right before us.
Ephesians 5:15-17
15Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, 16making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. 17Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.
< We need to be careful how we walk, wise about our decisions and be alert to opportunities.
John 6:1-14
Jesus Feeds the Five Thousand
1Some time after this, Jesus crossed to the far shore of the Sea of Galilee (that is, the Sea of Tiberias), 2and a great crowd of people followed him because they saw the signs he had performed by healing the sick. 3Then Jesus went up on a mountainside and sat down with his disciples. 4The Jewish Passover Festival was near.
5When Jesus looked up and saw a great crowd coming toward him, he said to Philip, “Where shall we buy bread for these people to eat?” 6He asked this only to test him, for he already had in mind what he was going to do.
7Philip answered him, “It would take more than half a year’s wages to buy enough bread for each one to have a bite!”
8Another of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, spoke up, 9“Here is a boy with five small barley loaves and two small fish, but how far will they go among so many?”
10Jesus said, “Have the people sit down.” There was plenty of grass in that place, and they sat down (about five thousand men were there). 11Jesus then took the loaves, gave thanks, and distributed to those who were seated as much as they wanted. He did the same with the fish.
12When they had all had enough to eat, he said to his disciples, “Gather the pieces that are left over. Let nothing be wasted.” 13So they gathered them and filled twelve baskets with the pieces of the five barley loaves left over by those who had eaten.
14After the people saw the sign Jesus performed, they began to say, “Surely this is the Prophet who is to come into the world.”
The little boy had the opportunity to see LORD Jesus, give away what he had and LORD Jesus performed miracle in front of his eyes. He did not accept it, he did not plan it, and he did not anticipate it.
< GOD wants us to be alert to His opportunities, because GOD guides and leads us through opportunities which may change our lives. He creates desires in our hearts. There are opportunities in front of us from the LORD, be excited about the opportunities all around you. Be alert to what GOD wants to do in your life or somebodies else life.
Matthew 4:18-22
Jesus Calls His First Disciples
18As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. 19“Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.” 20At once they left their nets and followed him.
21Going on from there, he saw two other brothers, James son of Zebedee and his brother John. They were in a boat with their father Zebedee, preparing their nets. Jesus called them, 22and immediately they left the boat and their father and followed him.
< Be alert to the opportunity to serve.
GOD still works the same way He might confront you with an opportunity that you are not prepared for, He might confront you with an opportunity that may scare you at first.
Peter on Pentecost saved 3000 people. The opportunity to follow the Son of GOD and become an apostle and walk by His side to defend Him and preach the truth that LORD Jesus was preaching.
LORD Jesus will give you opportunities in your life you will not feel qualified for. He will never intent you to walk you through something that He has not prepared you for, He did not enable you to do well at it. This was an opportunity to serve the LORD.
GOD will never give you an opportunity that He did not equip you. All you have to do is grasp it, seize it, walk in a away pleasing to GOD, walk wisely and be alert to opportunities.
When GOD calls you to do something it is an opportunity, it is an opportunity to serve the living GOD.
Luke 10:38-42
At the Home of Martha and Mary
38As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. 39She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said. 40But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!”
41“Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, 42but few things are needed—or indeed only one.f Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”
< Be alert to opportunities to learn.
Read the Bible every day in the presence of the LORD, you can learn tremendous amount. Every single one of us have this opportunity. Everything we need to know about is in the Bible. Read the Word of GOD every morning, ask for guidance and His direction, and be sensitive to His will purpose and plan. GOD will make you sensitive to opportunities that come your way. You have the Holy Spirit living inside of you, you have the Word of GOD laying before you, you can talk to the LORD Jesus Christ personally and He listens to you personally and He will meet every single need you have. He will give you His guidance and direction. You are unlimited in your relationship with the LORD. How much time do you spend with the Son of GOD? You have an opportunity with Him every day.
Luke 5:17-20
Jesus Forgives and Heals a Paralyzed Man
17One day Jesus was teaching, and Pharisees and teachers of the law were sitting there. They had come from every village of Galilee and from Judea and Jerusalem. And the power of the Lord was with Jesus to heal the sick. 18Some men came carrying a paralyzed man on a mat and tried to take him into the house to lay him before Jesus. 19When they could not find a way to do this because of the crowd, they went up on the roof and lowered him on his mat through the tiles into the middle of the crowd, right in front of Jesus.
20When Jesus saw their faith, he said, “Friend, your sins are forgiven.”
< Opportunities can be difficult and challenging. An opportunity to do the right thing, good thing, to do what GOD called you to do, an opportunity to effect somebody else’s life.
The more you love LORD Jesus the more you will travel, the more money you will give, the more you will do.
< A favourable time when GOD wants to work in our life.
Be careful how we live our life and how we walk. Be wise and be alert to the opportunities that GOD puts it on our face. Most of the time we will be unprepared. Opportunities are all around us.
< Be alert to the opportunity to witness. Continually share LORD Jesus Christ with others. Paul in Acts takes opportunity to testify LORD Jesus Christ. Whether they listen or not he had an opportunity to tell them the message they needed to hear. They may not always want to hear what you have got to say. If you meet someone unsaved and you know it, it’s your opportunity. We are responsible for living it and telling it. They are responsible for their response whether they listen or not. Take our opportunity to tell about LORD Jesus Christ.
Luke 19:1-10
Zacchaeus the Tax Collector
1Jesus entered Jericho and was passing through. 2A man was there by the name of Zacchaeus; he was a chief tax collector and was wealthy. 3He wanted to see who Jesus was, but because he was short he could not see over the crowd. 4So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore-fig tree to see him, since Jesus was coming that way.
5When Jesus reached the spot, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today.” 6So he came down at once and welcomed him gladly.
7All the people saw this and began to mutter, “He has gone to be the guest of a sinner.”
8But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount.”
9Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham. 10For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”
< Be alert to the opportunity to understand who LORD Jesus is.
Here is an opportunity of a life time and I am not going to miss it. He became the strongest witness to who LORD Jesus is by transformed life.
Mark 10:17-21
The Rich and the Kingdom of God
17As Jesus started on his way, a man ran up to him and fell on his knees before him. “Good teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?”
18“Why do you call me good?” Jesus answered. “No one is good—except God alone. 19You know the commandments: ‘You shall not murder, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony, you shall not defraud, honor your father and mother.’”
20“Teacher,” he declared, “all these I have kept since I was a boy.”
21Jesus looked at him and loved him. “One thing you lack,” he said. “Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”
< Be alert to the opportunity to be saved.
GOD creates the opportunities for us, it’s our responsibility to obey!
