Psalm 103:19
19The Lord has established his throne in heaven,
and his kingdom rules over all.
Psalm 107:23-32
23Some went out on the sea in ships;
they were merchants on the mighty waters.
24They saw the works of the Lord,
his wonderful deeds in the deep.
25For he spoke and stirred up a tempest
that lifted high the waves.
26They mounted up to the heavens and went down to the depths;
in their peril their courage melted away.
27They reeled and staggered like drunkards;
they were at their wits’ end.
28Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble,
and he brought them out of their distress.
29He stilled the storm to a whisper;
the waves of the sea were hushed.
30They were glad when it grew calm,
and he guided them to their desired haven.
31Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love
and his wonderful deeds for mankind.
32Let them exalt him in the assembly of the people
and praise him in the council of the elders.
GOD is in everything, He is in the storm, whatever storm comes and He is in control. If it is a storm you have created for yourself He is in control, if He created it He is in control.
There are 3 kinds of storms;
Physical storms – natural storms, hurricanes and tornadoes so forth come our way.
Emotional storms – emotional storms far worse than physical storms because it grinds the heart, the soul, the very centre of your life; being rejected is an emotional storm.
Spiritual storms – we create spiritual storms in our life by disobeying Him. The moment you accept LORD Jesus Christ as your Saviour, Holy Spirit comes and lives in our life to live in us, to guide us to lead us. One of His work is convicts us of our sins. When a believer deliberately sins against GOD, becomes disobedient to GOD and gets out of His will, then you and GOD have a huge storm. We began to feel afraid, distant from GOD and be separated from GOD.
Sometime Satan is the originator of the storms, all kind of storms. The wrong place, at the wrong time, the wrong thoughts, the wrong look and the power to full fill lust will cost.
2 Samuel 11:1-2
1In the spring, at the time when kings go off to war, David sent Joab out with the king’s men and the whole Israelite army. They destroyed the Ammonites and besieged Rabbah. But David remained in Jerusalem.
2One evening David got up from his bed and walked around on the roof of the palace. From the roof he saw a woman bathing. The woman was very beautiful, 3and David sent someone to find out about her. The man said, “She is Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam and the wife of Uriah the Hittite.” 4Then David sent messengers to get her. She came to him, and he slept with her. (Now she was purifying herself from her monthly uncleanness.) Then she went back home. 5The woman conceived and sent word to David, saying, “I am pregnant.”
< Sometime GOD sends storm in our life to discipline us, to get our attention and to get us protection otherwise we might destroy ourselves because He loves us. GOD does not play favourites.
<To get us repent. Jonah in the Bible; GOD called Him, he left to get away, he got onto ship, storm came, and he finally accepted it is his fault. He preached the word of GOD to Nineveh and they had revival. Sometime storms bring us to repentance. GOD loves you enough to send a storm that very painful in order to get our attention and come to repentance before Him.
< To conform us to His image – GOD’s will is to bring us to brokenness. GOD causes heartaches, pains in our life to bring us to Himself. GOD is in the storms for to purpose of bringing Himself glory.
< To equip us for service. Sometime we need go through suffering and pain in order to be equipped what GOD would like us to do.
< To demonstrate His power in our life for us to understand who He is and what He is doing. He allows us to suffer for a while then brings us healing. He loves us enough to allow us to get hurt till we finally say yes LORD. Often at the end of that time He began to use the person in a way that he never been used before. He brings us healing after the storm and use us as a witness.
< To reveal Himself to us. You learn things by experience and understand who He is. Be willing not to give up or blame GOD. Whatever the reason for the storm is GOD purpose is for our own good.
< To demonstrate His love for us in the storm.
Isaiah 55:8-11
8“For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,”
declares the Lord.
9“As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.
10As the rain and the snow
come down from heaven,
and do not return to it
without watering the earth
and making it bud and flourish,
so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater,
11so is my word that goes out from my mouth:
It will not return to me empty,
but will accomplish what I desire
and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.
< To remind us who is in control. GOD allows them for a purpose. When you are follower of LORD Jesus nothing happens in our lives without His permissive will and always with a purpose to strengthen us, to bless us, to prepare us, to equip us, to express love towards us. GOD always have loving motive in mind.
He loves you enough to wake you up this very morning. You as a believer as long as you understand who GOD is and how He operates that matters.
