Luke 2:1-20
1In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. 2(This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.) 3 And everyone went to their own town to register.
4So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. 5He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. 6While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, 7and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.
8And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. 9An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 10But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. 11Today in the town of David a Saviour has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. 12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”
13Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,
14“Glory to God in the highest heaven,
and on earth peace to those on whom his favour rests.”
15When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.”
16So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. 17When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, 18and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. 19But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. 20The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.
What appears to be insignificant can have great, eternal consequences. Creator of the world had come in to the world, Messiah had been born, Saviour of the world was being born, and the Sovereign of the whole universe who controls everything was being born. Salvation was being prepared for, many men and women who have sinned, would have an opportunity to go to heaven.
Often the things GOD does in our life may not appear to be significant but it is significant in your life. He has more in mind than you and I have in mind about it. You cannot judge life by simply the things that appear to be insignificant. GOD has a will, purpose and plan in our life. Your life is significant. Every day of life is important, all of our decisions are important because some appear to be insignificant becomes major issues in our life.
It is very important that you don’t judge things by the way they appear on the surface. You cannot determine a person’s value by their environment. By the eyes of GOD every single person is significant. Because He died for every single one of us. GOD has a plan and purpose in your life and He loves you unconditionally that makes you very significant. It doesn’t make any difference where you live, what your job is. You are somebody because He created you for a specific purpose which means no matter who you are where you are, you are somebody who is worth dying for therefore you are very important.
GOD often gives greatest understanding of things to the people who have low positions in life. GOD made the announcement of birth of LORD Jesus Christ to the shepherds. When He tells us to do something we ought to do it straight away when tells us to do it. The Shepard’s had gone straight away to find out about it. Sometime we miss great opportunity because we don’t do it straight away. GOD only shows us one step at a time what He wants us to do. Sheppard heard it they responded people heard it they were amazed by it.
When you hear the gospel of LORD Jesus Christ, it is significant message. Believe in your heart and respond by surrendering your life to LORD Jesus Christ. Anytime you hear a message from GOD ask yourself a question ‘GOD what would you like me to do with what I have just heard?
John 3:16
16For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
