Getting out of step with GOD

David armour was GOD.

1 Samuel 17 David and Goliath

GOD allowed what was going on inside of Saul to overcome him. His jealousy, pride, disobedience, guilt.

1 Samuel 18:10

10And it came to pass on the morrow, that the evil spirit from God came upon Saul, and he prophesied in the midst of the house: and David played with his hand, as at other times: and there was a javelin in Saul’s hand.

1 Samuel 19:9-11

9And the evil spirit from the LORD was upon Saul, as he sat in his house with his javelin in his hand: and David played with his hand. 10And Saul sought to smite David even to the wall with the javelin; but he slipped away out of Saul’s presence, and he smote the javelin into the wall: and David fled, and escaped that night.

Michal Saves David

11Saul also sent messengers unto David’s house, to watch him, and to slay him in the morning: and Michal David’s wife told him, saying, If thou save not thy life tonight, tomorrow thou shalt be slain.

His pride, disobedience, jealousy was eating him and reached to stage to kill him and his son.

When these feelings go inside a person they cannot think right, they don’t do right, they don’t spend time with GOD, in Word and in prayer. If they were they will be confessing their sins before Almighty GOD. There is no sense of repentance or evidence that he has changed.

Deliberate will full disobedience till these feelings destroy him. He cannot make wise decision.

A person who seeks unwisely counsel steps out of the will of GOD 1 Samuel 28. GOD will not answer prayer or give him dreams.

There are lots of people like that who decided they will live their life the way they want to live them, do what they want to do and when it comes to time they don’t pray, they don’t know how to pray not even sure they believe in GOD, friends gone, money gone, all the reputation is gone, the truth is they don’t have anything.

They may have stuff but when they are empty in their heart and they don’t have GOD you cannot pray to GOD and He does not hear you and answer your prayer, they are in serious trouble.

1 Samuel 28:15

15And Samuel said to Saul, Why hast thou disquieted me, to bring me up? And Saul answered, I am sore distressed; for the Philistines make war against me, and God is departed from me, and answereth me no more, neither by prophets, nor by dreams: therefore I have called thee, that thou mayest make known unto me what I shall do.

They come to a point there you don’t have GOD, you will die, it’s all gloom and dark because you have rejected GOD and His will in your life, confess your sins, repent of it and turn to Christ to set you on the right path.

He did not obey the LORD and he did not execute His fierce wrath on the enemy so the LORD has done these things to you. Saul was afraid there was no strength in him.

This is GOD allowing manifestation of Samuel and GOD spoke to him, it was a miracle. LORD Jesus spoke to Moses and Elijah.

He had everything going for him, he decides to disobey GOD, did not acknowledge the authority of the prophet, deliberately disobeyed GOD with the enemy. Then jealousy sets in, he was so consumed that he goes to the witch.

1 Samuel 31:1-6

1Now the Philistines fought against Israel: and the men of Israel fled from before the Philistines, and fell down slain in mount Gilboa. 2And the Philistines followed hard upon Saul and upon his sons; and the Philistines slew Jonathan, and Abinadab, and Malchishua, Saul’s sons. 3And the battle went sore against Saul, and the archers hit him; and he was sore wounded of the archers. 4Then said Saul unto his armourbearer, Draw thy sword, and thrust me through therewith; lest these uncircumcised come and thrust me through, and abuse me. But his armourbearer would not; for he was sore afraid. Therefore Saul took a sword, and fell upon it. 5And when his armourbearer saw that Saul was dead, he fell likewise upon his sword, and died with him. 6So Saul died, and his three sons, and his armourbearer, and all his men, that same day together.

*Pride who cannot share and take credit. GOD hates pride.

Proverb 16:18

18Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.

*Deliberately acting, being disobedient to GOD.

*when people disobey GOD they make excuse. Disobedience and rebellion is same as divination.

1 Samuel 15:23

23For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the LORD, he has also rejected you from being king.

If GOD and His Son LORD Jesus Christ is not GOD in his life (Saul) he has decided to be the GOD in his life – I will decide what I do, who I am, where I go, I will decide who I like, who I relate to, this is an idolatry. Saul has decided to live his life apart from GOD. Therefore GOD won’t hear him.

How to avoid getting out of step with GOD

Be careful how you live. If you have never trusted LORD Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour, it is idolatry and you are not a Christian, you are guilty of idolatry. LORD Jesus told you the truth, He is the Way, follow Him.

If you want your life in its best acknowledge LORD Jesus Christ. He told you the truth, He is the way, follow Him. Walk in steps with Him, experienced the life in its best, and have the life He intended us to have.

When will you accept the Truth and be obedient to Him? This is how much GOD loves us He allowed His Son to die for our sins.

Saul disobedience and jealousy destroyed him. Do not rationalise or excuse your sins.

Believer who consistently seeks to obey the LORD, will want to walk faithfully with Him for life time.
