When you think about your finances do you feel a good feeling or a bad feeling about it? What GOD thinks and what GOD says and His promises if I am obedient to GOD?
Proverbs 3:5-10
5Trust in the LORD with all your heart,
and do not depend on your own understanding.
6In all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make your paths straight.
7Do not be wise in your own opinion.
Fear the LORD and turn away from evil.
8This will bring healing to your body,
and refreshment to your bones.
9Honor the LORD with your wealth
and with the first of all your produce,
10so your barns will be filled with abundance,
and your vats will burst open with new wine.
I shouldn’t worry about the finances if I do everything exactly what GOD says do. Often times we are in financial problems because we simply disobey GOD. He is not going to challenge us to do something if it’s not for our best benefit.
Psalm 50:12
12“If I were hungry, I would not tell you;
for the world is mine along with everything in it.
Everything that exist GOD controls it. GOD owns it all and He has given us privilege to care take of it, manage it, be steward of it but we don’t own it. What we have belongs to GOD, came from GOD.
One of the reasons He blesses us is He proves Himself to us.
Malachi 3:8-12
8“Will a person rob God? Yet you are robbing me! But you ask, ‘How are we robbing you?’ “By the tithe and the offering. 9You are cursed under the curse—the entire nation—because you are robbing me!
10“Bring the entire tithe into the storehouse that there may be food in my house. So put me to the test in this right now,” says the LORD of the Heavenly Armies, “and see if I won’t throw open the windows of heaven for you and pour out on you blessing without measure. 11And I’ll prevent the devourer from harming you, so that he does not destroy the crops of your land. Nor will the vines in your fields drop their fruit,” says the LORD of the Heavenly Armies.
12“Then all the nations will call you blessed, for you will be a land of delight,” says the LORD of the Heavenly Armies.
GOD requires tenth of our income back to Him first of all to provide for the work of the LORD. Secondly to provide for the needs of others and thirdly to prove His faithfulness. If I give He will give back. He wants to prove to us He is everything He says He is.
2 Corinthians 9:6-8
6Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. 7Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 8And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.
This is the way GOD operates He makes sure our needs are met and He has chosen for us to give tenth. When you obey GOD, GOD will honour your giving. GOD keeps His Word.
Haggai 1:5-6
5“Now this is what the LORD of the Heavenly Armies, says: ‘carefully consider your ways:
6You have sowed much
but have reaped little.
You have eaten
but don’t have enough to become satisfied.
You have drunk
but don’t have enough to become intoxicated.
You have clothed yourself
but don’t have enough to keep warm.
And the hired labourer deposits his salary
in a bag full of holes!’”
*We are responsible for every aspect of our life. It is obedience, it is believing.
GOD is omniscient, have all power, know all so why don’t you give to Him? It is an opportunity to obey GOD and watch Him work. If you ignore Him GOD is not going to force Himself upon you.
GOD’s plan for our giving to Him;
*His motivation is love
1 Chronicles 29:12, 14
12Both wealth and honour proceed from you,
and you are ruling over them all.
You control power—
you control who is made great,
and how everyone becomes strong.
14But who am I,
and who are my people,
that we make such voluntary offerings as these?
For all things come from you,
and from your own hand we are giving to you.
*His plan is to bless us
Malachi 3:10
10“Bring the entire tithe into the storehouse that there may be food in my house. So put me to the test in this right now,” says the LORD of the Heavenly Armies, “and see if I won’t throw open the windows of heaven for you and pour out on you blessing without measure.
*His promise
Proverbs 3:10
10so your barns will be filled with abundance,
and your vats will burst open with new wine.
*His protection
Malachi 3:11
11And I’ll prevent the devourer from harming you, so that he does not destroy the crops of your land. Nor will the vines in your fields drop their fruit,” says the LORD of the Heavenly Armies.
GOD knows how to protect us.
*His generosity
Luke 6:38
38Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”
GOD is going to keep His word because that’s who He is. He is a GOD of truth. He has infinite power to do it.
*His sufficiency
2 Corinthians 9:6-7
6Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. 7Each of you must give what you have decided in your heart, not with regret or under compulsion, since God loves a cheerful giver. 8Besides, God is able to make every blessing of yours overflow for you, so that in every situation you will always have all you need for any good work.
