2 Corinthians 7:9-10

9Now I rejoice, not that you were made sorry, but that you sorrowed to repentance: for you were made sorry after a godly manner, that you might suffer loss by us in nothing.

10For godly sorrow works repentance to salvation not to be regretted: but the sorrow of the world works death.

People who feel guilty, feels self-punishment, depression, sense of worthlessness, sense of low esteem, rejection and feeling of isolation.

1 Peter 2:24

24Who his own self bore our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes you were healed.

Romans 5:9

9Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.

1 John 2:1-2

1My little children, these things write I unto you, that you sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:

2And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

Romans 8:1

1There is therefore now no condemnation to them who are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

We have an advocate with the Father LORD Jesus Christ righteous one. He is the payment for our sins. Those who trusted LORD Jesus Christ as their Saviour, He paid for our sins therefore we are no longer guilty, became child of GOD by grace. All our sins are atoned for, we are justified, and Bible says we are continually cleansed from all sin. We are walking under unconditional love of GOD.

John 3:18, 36

18He that believes on him is not condemned: but he that believes not is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

36He that believes on the Son has everlasting life: and he that believes not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abides on him.

LORD Jesus said I came to set the captives free.

Isaiah 61:1

1The spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD has anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he has sent me to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;

Many people are bound in captivity of guilt, feelings of guilt.

Believers justified and declared not guilty and blood of LORD Jesus Christ is cleansing you continuously from all sin and LORD Jesus Christ sitting at the right hand of the Father interceding for us. We are the redeemed children of GOD, having been declared no longer guilty and we are willing to accept the discipline of GOD as correction in our lives. We are the children of GOD.

Ephesians 2:8-10

8For by grace are you saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

9Not of works, lest any man should boast.

10For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God has before ordained that we should walk in them.

We are forgiven by the grace of Almighty GOD. Confession and repentance is realisation that my behaviour is not in keeping with who I am being child of GOD and must be willing to accept discipline whatever GOD sends. We are the forgiven children of GOD. Every single believer made righteous by the living presence of GOD within us. We are the redeemed, forgiven, reconciled, justified, glorified sons and daughters of the living GOD, walking under the canopy of His everlasting grace. We have been made complete in Him and we are not guilty sinners, we make mistakes but we are forgiven children of GOD. Holy Spirit convicts of our sins.

When a person feels guilty;

-It divides the mind

-It will drain your energy

-You will find a way punish yourself because you feel you need punishment

-Feeling of insecurity

-Compulsive activity because they cannot deal with silence because the guilt is a very painful experience

-Depression

-Pressure. Them telling you ‘I am not worthy your love’ therefore they act in such a fashion that it is very difficult to love them.

-They cannot let go of the past and the guilt.

-If the problem is unresolved no amount of medicine will get you over depression.

-Loss of self-respect

-physical illness

-separation from Christ for an unbeliever hell

Conviction power of Holy Spirit brings us to confession and repentance and if we don’t GOD discipline us continuously until we do but LORD Jesus paid the penalty for our sins. I am righteous not because of my behaviour but who we are, forgiven, redeemed sons and daughters of Christ.

Guilty feelings cause us to feel depressed and despair. Conviction of the Holy Spirit will lead us to realisation that we are forgiven.

Guilty feelings makes us focus on condemnation and deserving punishment. Conviction of the Holy Spirt leads us to correct our behaviour.

Guilty feelings will lead us to loss of self-esteem. Conviction of the Holy Spirit will lead us to realisation what we have done cost us or fellowship with GOD needs to be corrected.

Guilty feelings cause us fear of punishment. Conviction of the Holy Spirit will lead us to fear what happens as a consequences of that sin and motivates us to correct it.

Guilty feelings will lead us to separation from GOD. Conviction of the Holy Spirit will lead us to restore that fellowship immediately through confession and repentance and willingness to accept GOD’s discipline in our life.
