Isaiah 50:4

4The Sovereign Lord has given me a well-instructed tongue,

to know the word that sustains the weary.

He wakens me morning by morning,

wakens my ear to listen like one being instructed.

< Our ability to listen to GOD is limited to believers only. We hear through our spirit. GOD sent Holy Spirit to indwell in us. His Spirit conveys the message to our spirit. Our ability to listen to GOD begins with indwell presence of Holy Spirit within us.

< Our approach listening to GOD. Hear with clarity. He speaks through His Word, through other people and through circumstances. Word of GOD is His written revelation and His message to mankind and primary way GOD speaks to us is through His Word only if I am willing to spend time mediating on the Word.

We need to hear audibly and always check against GOD’s word, should be in keeping with what’s written in Scripture.

Grieving the spirit by sinning is interfering so you would not be able to hear from GOD as you should.

< GOD’s objective for us to listen always so that He wants us to develop listening spirit. Being able to hear from GOD is a way of life. Sub consciousness within us always listening to GOD whatever GOD says at any moment.

How to develop listening spirit to GOD

< I must make my priority to learn to listen to GOD. LORD teach me how to listen what you say. LORD speak to my heart.

< I must pursue that there is that desire, hunger within me to be able to discern what GOD is saying to me. You study it.

< You persist learning how to listen.

< Pray ask GOD to teach you how to listen to Him.

5 characteristics of listening spirit

< A teachable spirit that is open acknowledges that there is a need to learn. A teachable spirit is able to, willing to, open to learn, acknowledging that there is something to learn.

< An attentive spirit. Take time to concentrate and listen to GOD. Be still and quite.

Proverbs 4:20-22

20My son, pay attention to what I say;

turn your ear to my words.

21Do not let them out of your sight,

keep them within your heart;

22for they are life to those who find them

and health to one’s whole body.

< A humble spirit that you acknowledge to listen to GOD.

Psalm 25:9

9He guides the humble in what is right

and teaches them his way.

< Submissive spirit

Deuteronomy 11:13

So if you faithfully obey the commands I am giving you today–to love the LORD your God and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul–

< An anticipant spirit

Proverbs 8:34

Blessed are those who listen to me, watching daily at my doors, waiting at my doorway.

The people who listens to GOD will receive the message they are waiting from GOD.

You will learn no greater lesson than how to listen to GOD.
