Obeying GOD what is involved?

Posted on 01 Nov 2019

You can never be wrong by obeying GOD and you can never be right by being rebellious to GOD. That is the law of GOD. Obedience is doing what GOD says when GOD says and how He says do it?

What would you like me to do my GOD?

What obedience requires of me?

Daniel 1:4-15

4Youths {Children} in whom was no blemish, but well favoured, and skilful in all wisdom, and gifted {skilful} in knowledge, and understanding science, and such as had ability in them to stand in the king’s palace, and whom they might teach the learning and the tongue of the Chaldeans. 6Now among these were of the children of Judah, Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, 7Unto whom the prince of the eunuchs gave names; for he gave unto Daniel the name of Belteshazzar; and to Hananiah, of Shadrach; and to Mishael, of Meshach; and to Azariah, of Abed-nego.

8But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s food {meat}, nor with the wine which he drank; therefore, he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself. 9Now God had brought Daniel into favor and tender love with the prince of the eunuchs. 10And the prince of the eunuchs said unto Daniel, I fear my lord, the king, who hath appointed your food and your drink; for why should he see your faces worse looking {liking} than the children who are of your age {sort}? Then shall ye make me endanger my head to the king. 11Then said Daniel to Melzar, whom the prince of the eunuchs had set over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, 12Test {Prove} thy servants, I beseech thee, ten days; and let them give us vegetables {pulse} to eat, and water to drink. 13Then let our countenances be looked upon before thee, and the countenance of the youths {children} that eat of the portion of the king’s food {meat}; and as thou seest, deal {part} with thy servants. 14So he consented to them in this matter, and tested {proved} them ten days. 15And at the end of ten days their countenances appeared fairer and fatter in flesh than all the children who did eat the portion of the king’s food {meat}.

*GOD’s command

*All of His commands for our protection.

All of His commands will glorify Him when we obey.

Our set of values comes out of Bible. We all make decisions based on our values in life which is the WORD of GOD. Our values come from the Word of GOD.

They are there to protect us.

*Challenge – whenever GOD commands us to do something there is always a challenge. Eating the food of idols would have been mean being disloyal to the LORD. In order to destroy their faith in the LORD, they gave them finest of everything and changed their names. Tempting and little by little trying to destroy our faith.

*Commitment – Obedience is an attitude, we make a decision and there is an action we take. It is impossible to disobey GOD without suffering. When we disobey GOD, we suffer. It hurts us personally. Sin against GOD is sinning against yourself and you will suffer. I made my mind I am not going to defile myself. I chose to obey GOD no matter what.

1 John 1:7, 9

7But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanses us from all sin.

9If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
