2 Chronicles 20:21-24

21And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed singers unto the LORD, that should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army, and to say, Praise the LORD; for his mercy endures forever.

22And when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushes against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, who were come against Judah; and they were defeated.

23For the children of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of mount Seir, to slay and destroy them utterly: and when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, everyone helped to destroy one another.

24And when Judah came to the watchtower in the wilderness, they looked toward the multitude, and, behold, they were dead bodies fallen to the earth, and none escaped.

There is a power that released in the life of a believer, and there are things that happen in our heart we began praising GOD.

Praise appropriate for most difficult trying times.

• Praying focuses our attention upon GOD.

2 Chronicles 20:9-11

9And he charged them, saying, Thus shall you do in the fear of the LORD, faithfully, and with a perfect heart.

11And, behold, Amariah the chief priest is over you in all matters of the LORD; and Zebadiah the son of Ishmael, the ruler of the house of Judah, for all the king’s matters: also the Levites shall be officers before you. Deal courageously, and the LORD shall be with the good.

First thing he did he began the praise the LORD, he focused his attention on the LORD.

2 Chronicles 20:2-3

2Then there came some that told Jehoshaphat, saying, There comes a great multitude against you from beyond the sea on this side of Edom; and, behold, they are in Hazazon-tamar, which is En-gedi.

3And Jehoshaphat feared, and set his face to seek the LORD, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah.

When we praised the LORD we focus our attention on the GOD. I blessed your name LORD!

Praise the LORD focus your attention on the LORD.

• When we praise the LORD we recognise sovereignty of GOD

2 Chronicles 20:6

6And said, O LORD God of our fathers, are not you God in heaven? and rule you not over all the kingdoms of the nations? and in your hand is there not power and might, so that none is able to withstand you?

When we recognise sovereignty of GOD, GOD began to act on our behalf.

• When we praise the LORD we recall mighty acts of GOD

2 Chronicles 20:7-11

7Are not you our God, who did drive out the inhabitants of this land before your people Israel, and gave it to the descendants of Abraham your friend forever?

8And they dwelt in it, and have built you a sanctuary in it for your name, saying,

9If, when evil comes upon us, as the sword, judgment, or pestilence, or famine, we stand before this house, and in your presence, (for your name is in this house,) and cry unto you in our affliction, then you will hear and help.

10And now, behold, the children of Ammon and Moab and mount Seir, whom you would not let Israel invade, when they came out of the land of Egypt, but they turned from them, and destroyed them not;

11Behold, I say, how they reward us, to come to cast us out of your possession, which you have given us to inherit.

Psalm 147

Praise to the LORD of Providence

1Praise you the LORD: for it is good to sing praises unto our God; for it is pleasant; and praise is fitting.

2The LORD does build up Jerusalem: he gathers together the outcasts of Israel.

3He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds.

4He determines the number of the stars; he calls them all by their names.

5Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite.

6The LORD lifts up the meek: he casts the wicked down to the ground.

7Sing unto the LORD with thanksgiving; sing praise upon the harp unto our God:

8Who covers the heaven with clouds, who prepares rain for the earth, who makes grass to grow upon the mountains.

9He gives to the beast its food, and to the young ravens that cry.

10He delights not in the strength of the horse: he takes not pleasure in the legs of a man.

11The LORD takes pleasure in them that fear him, in those that hope in his mercy.

12Praise the LORD, O Jerusalem; praise your God, O Zion.

13For he has strengthened the bars of your gates; he has blessed your children within you.

14He makes peace in your borders, and fills you with the finest of the wheat.

15He sends forth his commandment upon earth: his word runs very swiftly.

16He gives snow like wool: he scatters the frost like ashes.

17He casts forth his ice like morsels: who can stand before his cold?

18He sends out his word, and melts them: he causes his wind to blow, and the waters flow.

19He shows his word unto Jacob, his statutes and his judgments unto Israel.

20He has not dealt so with any nation: and as for his judgments, they have not known them. Praise you the LORD.

I thank you for saving me I thank you for taking me out of difficult times.

• Praise paves the way for our dependence on GOD

We become aware of our dependence on GOD, we begin to recognise our failings. It is the helplessness and hopelessness brings us to that.

2 Chronicles 20:12

12O our God, will you not judge them? for we have no might against this great company that comes against us; neither know we what to do: but our eyes are upon you.

GOD desperately need you to intervene in this situation. Set your eyes on the LORD.

• It enlarges our vision of GOD

2 Chronicles 20:14-17

14Then upon Jahaziel the son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah, a Levite of the sons of Asaph, came the spirit of the LORD in the midst of the congregation;

15And he said, Hearken you, all Judah, and you inhabitants of Jerusalem, and you king Jehoshaphat, Thus says the LORD unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God’s.

16Tomorrow go you down against them: behold, they come up by the cliff of Ziz; and you shall find them at the end of the valley, before the wilderness of Jeruel.

17You shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand you still, and see the salvation of the LORD with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them: for the LORD will be with you.

When we praise the LORD we enlarge our vision of GOD. We began to see how GOD operates and works in situations and circumstances we will never be able to figure it out. It is willing to take the step forward you don’t know what’s going to happen, trust on the sovereignty of GOD.

Stand still and watch GOD work on your behalf. When we praise the LORD our vison of power of the LORD enlarges, becomes personally involve in our lives, in our situation we began to see how GOD intervenes in most miraculous fashion. That is the power of praise in the life of a believer.

GOD I am your servant I am your child you are a faithful GOD I trust you, intervene our circumstances, intervene our situation, do for us what only you can do.

• When we praise the LORD it magnifies presence of GOD

2 Chronicles 20:18

18And Jehoshaphat bowed his head with his face to the ground: and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem fell before the LORD, worshiping the LORD.

I am standing in the presence of Holy GOD. When we praise the LORD, there is awesome awareness of presence of GOD.

Awesome word of encouragement came from GOD. You are purchased by the blood of LORD Jesus Christ, you are valuable to Almighty God. He releases His awareness. GOD has no favourites but He does have intimates. GOD willing to relieve, willing to receive His children.

• When we praise GOD our faith in GOD increases

2 Chronicles 20:19-20

19And the Levites, of the children of the Kohathites, and of the children of the Korahites, stood up to praise the LORD God of Israel with a loud voice on high.

20And they rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and you inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the LORD your God, so shall you be established; believe his prophets, so shall you prosper.

We began to visualise GOD working on our behalf, something happens our faith increases, and we believe GOD for what He is going to do. Praise the LORD, extolling His mighty deeds, His power, recalling what He has done in the past. Believe in GOD more.

• Praise is essential to know the will of GOD

LORD I don’t know what to do, I am coming to you, I am trusting you, you said ask it shall be given, seek you should find, knock it shall be open to you. I am asking, seeking, knocking, and trusting you GOD. GOD will show you what to do every single time.

Give thanks the LORD for His love and kindness is everlasting.

When you praise the LORD, GOD releases His mind and shows us what to do, gives direction for your life. All you have to do is stand still, praise the LORD while He is fixing the whole thing.

• Praising the LORD will lift up His name

Every knee should bow at the name of LORD Jesus Christ

Philippians 2:10

that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,

Praise the name of LORD Jesus, lift up LORD Jesus name, magnify and glorify His name. GOD will began to respond to your praise to LORD Jesus Christ. GOD helps any man who praises, glorifies LORD Jesus name, GOD the Father is glorified and extolled.

• When we praise the GOD it releases the power of GOD

 2 Chronicles 20:22-24

Praising the LORD releases the super natural power of GOD. GOD do to them they could have never than themselves, bring them victory and triumph. GOD provided abundance and protected them, they didn’t even fight.

2 Chronicles 20:25-26

25And when Jehoshaphat and his people came to take away the spoil of them, they found among them in abundance both riches with the dead bodies, and precious jewels, which they stripped off for themselves, more than they could carry away: and they were three days in the gathering of the spoil, it was so much.

26And on the fourth day they assembled themselves in the valley of Beracah; for there they blessed the LORD: therefore the name of the same place was called, the valley of Beracah, unto this day.

When you praise the LORD, Spirit of GOD works in our hearts in union with Almighty GOD. We are GOD’s unfinished master pieces. In LORD Jesus Christ we are sons and daughters of the living GOD. Christ living in us. Christ will take care of us, provide us, give us wisdom and direction to do what is right, at the right time, at the right place, right way so He Himself will be magnified and glorified and we will be blessed in return. That makes you extremely special in the eyes of GOD.

2 Chronicles 20:27

27Then they returned, every man of Judah and Jerusalem, and Jehoshaphat in front of them, to go again to Jerusalem with joy; for the LORD had made them to rejoice over their enemies.

They praised the LORD, power of GOD was released and destroyed the enemies.

• Praise knights people of GOD

When we exalt LORD Jesus name and praise the LORD, LORD does something in your heart. When the human heart is peaceful, joyful power of GOD releases something within us. It takes away the tension, stress.

• Praise fills the heart with the joy of the LORD

Make a wise decision and rejoice in the LORD. Choose to praise the LORD in my circumstances no matter what. Praise Him for sovereignty of GOD, praise Him for His mighty acts of GOD, presence of GOD, praise Him for His faithfulness, praise Him for releasing the power of GOD, praise Him to fill your heart with joy, praise Him for the understanding and beginning to experience something in your life that you never experienced or understood before. GOD will lift you above them even when you are walking in the mist of difficulties and hardship.

Our access to the Father is through LORD Jesus Christ. When you are saved it is the Holy Spirit comes inside of you. We are bought with the blood of LORD Jesus Christ and made us brand new creature in Christ.
