Colossians 1:19-23

19For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, 20and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.

21Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behaviour. 22But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation— 23if you continue in your faith, established and firm, and do not move from the hope held out in the gospel. This is the gospel that you heard and that has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven, and of which I, Paul, have become a servant.

Reconciliation is the reaching out to someone else bringing him back into relationship they had before. It is mending of a relationship, it is bringing back the person to sense of oneness, which once they have enjoyed.

Reconciliation is exchange of hostility to harmony. Restoring of a position which they have previously fallen.

Every one of us needs reconciliation with GOD. When human race failed in the Garden of Eden whole human race lost its position. Therefore we all come into this world with sense of rebellious, indifferent to Holy things and spirit of disobedience. Parents under responsibility to bring the child to obey, discipline the child.

Romans 5:19

19For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous.

Every single person reconciled to GOD, responded to GOD who took the initiative, it is man responding to loving peace, bringing back into the relationship with Him.

The story of the son is restored back to his household in the Bible.

We also need reconciliation with one another.

Our problem between us and GOD is sin. Once we are saved we are reconciled to Him.

Romans 8:19-22

19For the creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed. 20For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope 21thath the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the freedom and glory of the children of God.

22We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time.

When you sin against the GOD you choose to suffer. Consequences of suffered;

< Estrangement from GOD. GOD does not answer the prayer of a person to be reconciled to GOD. Because in the eyes of GOD that person is an enemy to GOD. Only prayer of salvation, forgiveness of your sins and accepting LORD Jesus Christ as your Saviour GOD will answer.

< Feelings of guilt. They do feel guilty. They are in desperate situation if they don’t feel guilty.

< Separation from others. Selfishness, self-centeredness, pride causes the estrangement, guilt and suffering. And they are missing the blessings GOD prepared for them.

Sin and suffering affects others, there is always price on suffering often shame and separation.

How do we experience reconciliation?

Reconciliation to GOD

<GOD’s initiative. LORD Jesus is the exact image of the Heavenly Father.

Colossians 1:19-20

19For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, 20and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.

< GOD’s motivation is His pleasure, He takes delight and His love toward us and for our own good.

22 “to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation”

GOD provided sacrifice LORD Jesus Christ, GOD in flesh all. Paid the sin debt for all mankind then GOD reconciled us to Himself through LORD Jesus blood. Only when accept LORD Jesus Christ as your Saviour by faith. LORD Jesus said “Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6.

20and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross. 21Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behaviour. 22But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation—

“They went out from us, but they did not really belong to us. For if they had belonged to us, they would have remained with us; but their going showed that none of them belonged to us.” 1 John 2:19

Reconciliation to others

< The one who is offended takes the initiative

< The one who is wronged willing to suffer criticism, rejection, blame, accusations, hurt

< The one who is offended to die self

Every experience of reconciliation requires the death of someone.

LORD Jesus died for us. If your husband die to his pride, self-centeredness, selfish ways you will get your husband back. But he got to be living to die. GOD will hold you accountable for that if you sacrifice the harmony to get your selfish way.

< Change of attitude

< Reach out in forgiving love to other person

You will gain the Heavenly Father.
