John 1:29

29The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!

John the Baptist preached repentance.

Matthew 3:2

2And saying, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

Acts 2:38

38Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Romans 2:4

4Or despise you the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?

There is no such thing as living in victory for a believer if they have not repented.

Repentance mean change of mind. It involves emotions that I will grieve over my sin, I will be regretful for what I have done, true remorse that acknowledges its own responsibility for the sin committed. It is a change of mind that will result in positive actions and attitude in my life.

Repentance is essential to salvation. Repentance and faith is the two side of the same coins. If you change your attitude you change your belief. Putting your trust in LORD Jesus Christ involves change of attitude – repentance. To be saved you must put your faith LORD Jesus Christ.

If I change my mind the way I have been living, true genuine repentance is going to affect my actions and behaviour and habits.

John 8:7, 10-11

7So when they continued asking him, he lifted himself up, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.

10When Jesus had lifted himself up, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those your accusers? has no man condemned you?

11She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn you: go, and sin no more.

Salvation is GOD forgives of my sins. Repentance and faith essential to salvation. We are saved by the grace of GOD. Once saved it is a change of mind that result change in attitude and activity.

Luke 15:17-20

Parable of the Lost Son

17And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father’s have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!

18I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before you,

19And am no more worthy to be called your son: make me as one of your hired servants.

20And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.

After losing everything he came to his senses and had a change of mind that is a spirit of repentance. He came to new realisation to arise and go to his father. Repentance is a change of attitude. If it is genuine, it is going to result in change of habit, change of action, change of life style. He was forgiven when he left home. He repented in the hot pan which resulted in changing his life style. It is the work of the Holy Spirit when you are saved. Repentance and faith essential for salvation. Place your trust in LORD Jesus Christ and His death on the cross. To do that you have to change your mind.

1 John 1:9

9If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Confess means agree with it. I am going to change my attitude, I will change my actions. Deal with your sin by confession that I agree with GOD about it that I should walk away from my sins that shouldn’t be in my life. It will be a change in my conduct and behaviour based on who I am, who He is, what He is in me.

Genuine repentance is I am sorry, I am remorse, I grieve about it, I change my attitude and I agree with GOD and my agreement is going to result in change in action. Bring your sins to GOD, confess of it and repent of it and walk away from it not in your own strength but by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Holy Spirit surfaces the things that you need to repent of it, GOD works on us and gets our attention. When we understand true genuine repentance, ask GOD what things He wants you to repent of, He will show you. He is more than adequate to meet your needs.
