Proverbs 3:5-6

5Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

Psalm 32:8

8I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.

1 Kings 12:6-7, 13

6And king Rehoboam consulted with the old men, that stood before Solomon his father while he yet lived, and said, How do you advise that I may answer this people?

7And they spoke unto him, saying, If you will be a servant unto this people this day, and will serve them, and answer them, and speak good words to them, then they will be your servants forever.

People get in serious trouble because they listen to the wrong people. Listening to the right people is very important.

We have the promise of GOD’s instruction in our life if you listen to it.

*little or no mention of GOD or the Bible

*Absence of prayer

*Defence about not using the scripture

*Suggest action that unscriptural

*Critical of Godly people

*Suggest reading that ignores GODs Word

*Offers what they think you want to hear – I want to hear what GOD wants me to hear

*wants to control you

*Creates dependency upon them

*Ungodly life style of counsellor

*Gives an excuse

*Seeks your approval

*There is a check in your spirit

*Gets too involved personally

*Projects their own hurts

*Don’t go to unbeliever for a counsel

Be careful who you talk to who you listen to.

The wisest counsel is LORD Himself through the Holy Spirit. His primary responsibility is to reveal the true nature of GOD to us, providing guidance, leadership, power and energy for what GOD wants us to do in our life. We have GOD inside of us, His leadership.

A counsellor is servant of GOD.
