Nehemiah 1:4-11

Nehemiah’s Prayer for Israel

4And it came to pass, when I heard these words, that I sat down and wept, and mourned certain days, and fasted, and prayed before the God of heaven,

5And said, I beseech you, O LORD God of heaven, the great and awesome God that keeps covenant and mercy for them that love him and observe his commandments:

6Let your ear now be attentive, and your eyes open, that you may hear the prayer of your servant, which I pray before you now, day and night, for the children of Israel your servants, and confess the sins of the children of Israel, which we have sinned against you: both I and my father’s house have sinned.

7We have dealt very corruptly against you, and have not kept the commandments, nor the statutes, nor the ordinances, which you commanded your servant Moses.

8Remember, I beseech you, the word that you commanded your servant Moses, saying, If you transgress, I will scatter you abroad among the nations:

9But if you turn unto me, and keep my commandments, and do them; though some of you were cast out unto the uttermost part of the heaven, yet will I gather them from there, and will bring them unto the place that I have chosen to set my name there.

10Now these are your servants and your people, whom you have redeemed by your great power, and by your strong hand.

11O Lord, I beseech you, let now your ear be attentive to the prayer of your servant, and to the prayer of your servants, who desire to fear your name: and prosper, I pray you, your servant this day, and grant him mercy in the sight of this man. For I was the king’s cupbearer.

Nehemiah without fail for seeking guide and direction he prayed and learned the power of prayer. We stand the tallest and the strongest on our knees. We make the greatest impact and we experience the greatest power and strength whatever we face in this life successfully. Prayer is a choice that GOD has given us to reach Him, speak to Him to plead before Him and receive from Him. It is one of the greatest gift GOD has given to us.

Nehemiah knew how to approach GOD, how to talked to GOD. King granted him everything he desired. Spirit of GOD was upon him. GOD protected him every time. He became taller and taller and in his influence among the people. Stronger and stronger as he faces one obstacle after another. In 52 days they have completed the wall.

He lived on his knees became so tall spiritually so tall not only in his ability and skill to bring people together and correct them and challenged them. GOD will do the same with you if you have the right relationship with GOD. GOD can use you in the most awesome fashion if you allow Him to do it, if you believe that He could do it and if you make yourself available to do it.

We underestimate the power of GOD in us through us. He began as a cup bearer and GOD worked through in his life.

*We stand the tallest and the strongest and we make the greatest effect and the impact on those around us. Facing anything and everything with strength and confidence when we live on our knees before GOD.

*When you pray recognise GOD is the sovereign of the universe. He absolutely control all things, He established His throne in heavens and His sovereignty rules overall, over all things, all times, all places.

*Nehemiah was heavily burdened, he confessed the sins of the nation of Israel. After he recognises the sin in his life he deals with the whole issue of sin.

If you hold on to sin, prayers are not going anywhere. GOD wants you to clean up.

Psalm 66:18

18If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:

Purity of heart and power of GOD is linked. If you want the power of GOD in your life your life needs to be pure.

GOD wants the very best for us.
