Is there any area of your life that you would consider being out of control?
Galatians 5:22-23
22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23Meekness, self-control: against such there is no law.
We all want to be in control of our lives. We all want to be in relationship with our LORD by which we are submitted to Him to the point that we are not always battling.
We need to submit our lives to the LORD so that we are not always self-battling. When things are not right between you and GOD it is like a tag of war. You cannot be living life of disobedience to GOD and have the fruits of the Spirit.
Desires that can control us;
Desire to be accepted by others
Desire to be loved by others
Desires to all types of pleasure
Desire for wealth and security
Desire to achieve and excel
Desire to notoriety and fame
Desire to happiness
Desire to attractiveness
Desire to control
Desire to self-acceptance
Self-control is thinking before you act and considering seriously the possible results.
Galatians 5:19-21
19The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity, and debauchery; 20idolatry and sorcery; hatred, discord, jealousy, and rage; rivalries, divisions, factions, 21and envy; drunkenness, carousing, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
Who practice such things is the way of life for them, it’s their life style.
If you trusted LORD Jesus Christ as your Saviour, these things don’t fit who we are.
Are all of these things in your life fit who you are?
When you trust LORD Jesus Christ as your Saviour you turn your back on sin. Your commitment to the LORD is be obedient to the LORD, walk in His ways, because you want the fruit of the Spirit in your life. You will be more secure and satisfied and you will be related to other people totally different than what you used to.
Do they know you walk in the Spirit? Something different about you?
If you are willing to trust LORD Jesus Christ as your Saviour and submit your life to GOD, in His control, GOD will help you and change your life, change everything about you.
If you live disobedient to GOD you will suffer the consequences.
Keys to self-control;
Self-control requires we think before we act. Holy Spirit is in control of our thinking and our actions and when He is in control I think before I act and our actions follow His purpose and plan for our lives.
Have a strong desire to obey GOD. If you don’t, you won’t live godly life.
Believe in your heart that Holy Spirit will enable you to overcome all types of sin. It’s you and the Holy Spirit who promised to give you whatever you need to be victorious. He is there for the asking and for the yielding of your life.
Ask yourself before you do anything;
-How will this affect me spiritually, financially, physically?
Don’t violate the principles of GOD given us.
-How is this going to affect how others see you?
Do they see you as a true believer?
-What are the consequences of my actions?
Is the fruits of the Spirit evident in my life every day all day?
What is better than GOD’s best?
Galatians 6:7
7Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man sows that shall he also reap.
He is encouraging us to live a godly life. GOD loves you too much. GOD has chosen His very best to those who are willing to listen, surrender and walk on His way.
