The condition of your heart determines the direction of your life. If you are walking in the right direction, it is good; if you are walking in the wrong direction, it is going to be fatal. It is very important that you walk in the direction of LORD Jesus Christ. You will eventually discover what ever GOD teaches in His Word it’s the way it is.
In this particular passage LORD Jesus described how we really are, all of us at some point in life lost our way; either living in sin like this young man, or have unforgiven spirit like his brother or we have a wonderful forgiven spirit like the father. The Parable of the Lost Son has all of us in it somewhere. This is one of the most memorable and effective stories LORD Jesus told.
Luke 15:11-24
The Parable of the Lost Son
11Jesus continued: “There was a man who had two sons. 12The younger one said to his father, ‘Father, give me my share of the estate.’ So he divided his property between them.
13“Not long after that, the younger son got together all he had, set off for a distant country and there squandered his wealth in wild living. 14After he had spent everything, there was a severe famine in that whole country, and he began to be in need. 15So he went and hired himself out to a citizen of that country, who sent him to his fields to feed pigs. 16He longed to fill his stomach with the pods that the pigs were eating, but no one gave him anything.
17“When he came to his senses, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have food to spare, and here I am starving to death! 18I will set out and go back to my father and say to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. 19I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me like one of your hired servants.’ 20 So he got up and went to his father.
“But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.
21“The son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’
22“But the father said to his servants, ‘Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. 23Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let’s have a feast and celebrate. 24 For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ So they began to celebrate.
The Word of GOD is true from Genesis to Revelation. When GOD gives us a clear picture of something He wants us to understand this is the way it is. And this young man’s life is a perfect example where most of us living or want to live today.
*He had a desire in his heart.
*He made a decision. He wanted to live his life, his way, where he wanted to live.
*He departed. A far country is wherever you choose to go outside the will of GOD, anywhere you are living outside the will of GOD is a far country.
*He was deceived. Satan painted a beautiful picture of deception for him and he left. Satan will blind your mind to the effects, nature of sin and its consequences for the moment. It is devils lie that you can have anything you want without any accountability. You are accountable to GOD.
*He began to wander. Sin will always bring you to total dissatisfaction.
* He found himself wanting. His want became stronger and stronger. Because Satan wants to destroy you. He lost all he had. He ended up at the lowest place. Wherever you are living in your life spiritually without GOD, you are in the hog pot; unless you surrender your life to GOD, it will only get worse and worse. It is simply a matter of decision.
*He made a decision to return to his father. Many people come to their senses. The Holy Spirit of GOD will work on you over and over again and will remind you GOD offer of love and His presence, His power and whatever you need in life He will provide it.
*He came to his senses. Whoever you are whatever your situation and circumstances you may be as low as the prodigal son, GOD loves for you has not ceased. In spite of all your sins, disobedience, sexual immorality, drunkenness He has been listening. If you are willing to ask Him to forgive you of your sins, if you surrender your life to Him, if you are willing to be a new person in your life, He will change your life, He will forgive you, He will cleanse you, He will make you a new person. Be willing to receive Him as your Saviour as your LORD. He will save you from the mess you have made in your life if you let Him.
