When faith gives way to fear

When that happens we lose, we disobey the LORD.

Genesis 12

1Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get you out of your country, and from your kindred, and from your father’s house, unto a land that I will show you:

2And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you, and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing:

3And I will bless them that bless you, and curse him that curses you: and in you shall all families of the earth be blessed.

Unconditional promise of GOD. That’s mean nothing will alter it.

7And the LORD appeared unto Abram, and said, Unto your descendants will I give this land: and there built he an altar unto the LORD, who appeared unto him.

8And he removed from there unto a mountain on the east of Bethel, and pitched his tent, having Bethel on the west, and Ai on the east: and there he built an altar unto the LORD, and called upon the name of the LORD.

He claimed the land GOD gave to Him.

10And there was a famine in the land: and Abram went down into Egypt to sojourn there; for the famine was severe in the land.

11And it came to pass, when he came near to enter into Egypt, that he said unto Sarai his wife, Behold now, I know that you are a fair woman to look upon:

12Therefore it shall come to pass, when the Egyptians shall see you, that they shall say, This is his wife: and they will kill me, but they will save you alive.

13Say, I pray you, that you are my sister: that it may be well with me for your sake; and my soul shall live because of you.

14And it came to pass, that, when Abram came into Egypt, the Egyptians beheld the woman that she was very fair.

15The princes also of Pharaoh saw her, and commended her before Pharaoh: and the woman was taken into Pharaoh’s house.

16And he treated Abram well for her sake: and he had sheep, and oxen, and male donkeys, and menservants, and maidservants, and female donkeys, and camels.

17And the LORD afflicted Pharaoh and his house with great plagues because of Sarai Abram’s wife.

18And Pharaoh called Abram, and said, What is this that you have done unto me? why did you not tell me that she was your wife?

19Why did you say, She is my sister? so I might have taken her to me as a wife: now therefore behold your wife, take her, and go your way.

20And Pharaoh commanded his men concerning him: and they sent him away, and his wife, and all that he had.

When fear has moved from GOD to our circumstances

*Our focus has moved from GOD to our circumstances

Because my circumstances change does not mean I should change. If GOD shows you His will and certain things He intents us to walk in it. When we step out of the will of GOD we will get in trouble.

*We begin making decisions based on human reasoning rather than on faith in GOD.

Promise of GOD was unconditional. The reasonable thing is not always the right thing.

*We forget that GOD is both provider and protector.

GOD withholds us in a place that we are absolutely dependent on Him because He wants to teach us something.

You should ask GOD I came this far what would you like me to do next.

Obedience is doing what says do, when He says do? How He says do? If we don’t we pay the penalty.

*We are willing to sacrifice our most precious possessions in order to gain the favour of others.

Abraham in verse 13 saying I am giving you up to save my neck.

*We forget the unconditional promises of GOD and begin to fear others.

LORD Jesus Christ will keep His promise.

The will of GOD is plan of GOD.

*We are willing to cause others pain and great harm in order to protect ourselves.

When GOD says He will do something He is going to do it.

When faith gives way to fear we get in trouble. It is a great warning.

Ask the LORD ‘Am I where would you like me to be spiritually?’
