When we cry out to GOD

Psalm 57:1-5

1Have mercy on me, my God, have mercy on me,

for in you I take refuge.

I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings

until the disaster has passed.

2I cry out to God Most High,

to God, who vindicates me.

3He sends from heaven and saves me,

rebuking those who hotly pursue me—c

God sends forth his love and his faithfulness.

4I am in the midst of lions;

I am forced to dwell among ravenous beasts—

men whose teeth are spears and arrows,

whose tongues are sharp swords.

5Be exalted, O God, above the heavens;

let your glory be over all the earth.

A cry is a spontaneous response to urgent need. Usually centred on immediate specific need. May be motivated by the presence of danger. May be the response to pain and hurt. May be the reaction to heart-breaking news. The response to sense of desperation. Crying out to GOD goes depths of our hearts, we are very serious what we are talking about.

1 John 1:9

9If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

If I am going to cry out to Holy God to help Me, I will get right with Him. Dealing with sin is the beginning of it.

Crying out to GOD comes out of a clean heart.

Prayer is the petition, thanksgiving or intercession.

What message are we sending when we cry out to the LORD?

< We are facing a desperate situation and we are fearful.

< We feel helpless before our circumstances; we don’t know what to do.

< We recognise GOD’s supernatural power to help us in our crisis.
