Ephesians 4:30-32

30And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. 31Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. 32Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

Forgiveness is a deliberate wilful act on my part of releasing someone offended me of the obligation due to me because of what they have done. Acknowledging what they have done wrong to me and releasing them of what they have done.

I will no longer hold against that person what they have done against me.

Forgiveness is consistent with the nature of GOD.

John 3:17

17For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

We are may be forgiven our sins. The last thing LORD Jesus said “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” Luke 23:34.

After He was resurrected He came back and appeared to His disciples and said “and repentance for the forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.” Luke 23:47.

Put away and be kind to each other. Forgiven and forgotten.

Colossians 3:12-13

12Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, compassion, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;

13Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do you.

We are to be forgiven those who wronged us.

-they don’t understand what forgiveness is. Forgiveness is a decision.

-pride, nobody can get away with sin, forgive them. It is an act we have to exercise no matter what they have done.

-We allow that wrong fester and grow into bitterness.

-When we are wronged we should forgive.

Hebrews 12:14, 15

14Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:

15Looking diligently lest any man fall short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled;

Unforgiveness is bitterness and it is a result of festering, thinking about it.

Act in grace to one another and don’t let it spring up. Forgive immediately!

What we sow we will reap, later than we sow.
